This is a reminder the office is still open to in-person appointments with staff. You can email Patricia at or call 250-292-8733 to make your appointment. Appointments are necessary to limit the number of people that are in the building and to ensure we are keeping our staff and community safe.

Below is a photo of a completed version of the log shelter currently being constructed near the family centre. It was designed, engineered and built by local company TL Timber.

TL Timber has completed this structure for many local schools and childcare facilities throughout the South Okanagan and Similkameen this year, including Similkameen Elementary Secondary School in Keremeos.  Due to many schools and childcare facilities ordering them, they were able to offer the structure at a reduced rate. TL TImber is also donating custom-made seating to go underneath.

This structure is being funded through a Capital Land-Based grant for Aboriginal Head Start Programs from First Nations Health Authority.  Although the funding came from the Chuchuwayha Family Centre team applying for the grant for their programming, the decision was made with Chief and Council to place the structure outside of the enclosure of the family centre fenced yard in order for it to be a shared resource between family centre programming and the community as a whole.

The family centre and future licensed childcare facility will use it for land-based learning and it will be available for community gatherings, other uses by staff and families.

We look forward to creating many wonderful memories here as a community!

Dear Community Members

****Attention Community****

Dear Community Members

Due to the increased workload with the pandemic and flu Season, the Health team is no longer able to provide medication pickup & delivery at this time.  As this was a courtesy service, we encourage everyone who is able to, to please pick up their own medications.  For those who are physically unable to get their own, we will contact you to make arrangements.

Thank you for your understanding.

We are now in Flu season and USIB is planning to do the annual Flu vaccine clinic within the next few weeks.  The date, time & place will be posted on this site and on the FB page as soon as it is organized.

Stay Safe & Healthy!
