New MCFD Rent Supplement Program for Young Adults

Housing Supports Infographic

The Province of B.C. recently announced that it is investing nearly $35 million over the next three years into programs and services for young adults from government care to better support them as they transition to adulthood.

A part of this commitment includes the introduction of the new MCFD Rent Supplement Program, which helps young adults from care who are ready to live independently afford their rent. Eligible young adults will soon be able to apply for a $600 monthly rent supplement to assist them with rental costs in the private housing market as they transition to adulthood. 50 percent of rent supplements will be available to Indigenous young adults.

Applications will be accepted soon through an online application between the dates of October 17, 2022, and November 1, 2022. Please check the Youth Transitions Web page regularly for more information.
