Tentative Agenda:
Tuesday July 25:
Wednesday July 26 – Canoe Day
Thursday July 27
The Merritt First Nations Policing Section (RCMP) is planning its Annual Canoe Journey for the Nicola Valley. This year’s event will be held on Tuesday July 25, 2023 to Thursday July 27, 2023 on Nicola Lake. We will be hosting community feast and evening entertainment. The three-day Canoe Journey on Nicola Lake will involve youth from Upper Nicola, Lower Nicola, Coldwater, Shackan, Nooaitch, and off reserve community members in the Merritt area. This event is for youth between the ages of 10 and 18 years.
The canoe pull is a way to support the future leaders of the Nicola Valley in a healthy active environment by supporting our youth, demonstrating culture awareness, being respectful and working together. In partnership with TECK (Highland Valley Copper) and the assistance of Scw’exmx Child & Family, Scw’exmx Community Health, Upper Nicola Indian Band, Lower Nicola Indian Band, and School District #58 we would like to invite you to the Nicola Canoe Pull 2023.
Attached is the Newsletter, Registration form and the wavier canoe – all forms are due July 13, 2023 to your chaperone.
